Two Arrested, Shots Fired at Deputy

On 10/7/2024 at approximately 9:40PM, a deputy observed a vehicle disregard a stop sign at the intersection of Highway 14 and Hunts Bridge Road, almost striking another vehicle. The driver then proceeded to pass another vehicle on a double yellow line, continuing to I 385 and then to Highway 14 in Gray Court at a high rate of speed and refusing to stop for blue lights. A passenger in the vehicle fired shots at the deputy while the vehicle continued at high rates of speed, items were thrown from the vehicle, and the driver continued to disregard traffic safety. Measures were taken to disable the subject vehicle at which time the driver and passenger were taken into custody near Narnie Road without further incident.

The vehicle was discovered to have been stolen in a carjacking incident that occurred in Greenville City. The firearm involved was found to be stolen out of Spartanburg.

A 16 year old of Simpsonville was arrested and charged as follows:

-Attempted Murder

-Possession of Stolen Firearm

-Possession of Altered Firearm/Machine Gun

-Possession with Intent To Distribute Marijuana

-Possession of Stolen Vehicle

Braxton Mitchell, 20, of Lyman was arrested and charged as follows:

-Attempted Murder

-Failure to Stop for Blue Light

-Possession of Stolen Vehicle

-Possession with Intent To Distribute Marijuana

-Driving Under Suspension, 2nd offense

-Reckless Driving
