Shooting Incident at Ware Shoals Drag Strip

According to the Laurens County Coroner’s Office, 17-year-old Calvin Lamont Parker Jr of Greenwood succumbed to his injuries as a result of this incident. Investigation is ongoing.

There is a heavy law enforcement presence in the area of 16924 Highway 25 in Ware Shoals (Drag Strip) in reference to a shooting incident. Avoid the area at this time. This is believed to be an isolated incident and we do not believe there to be danger considered toward the community. Deputies are actively working this incident.
