Two Arrested After Animal Welfare Check- Marijuana Plants Found
On April 21, 2026 at approximately 2:15PM, Animal Control responded to Shepard Drive in Clinton in reference to animal neglect. Upon receiving consent to enter the residence to check the welfare of animals, an odor of marijuana was noted and a large amount of marijuana plants were observed. Man Arrested After Shooting Death
On April 17th at approximately 11:45PM, deputies responded to Old Highway 76 in Gray Court in reference to a shooting incident. Upon arrival, a victim was located who succumbed to his injuries. The Laurens County Sheriff's Office has arrested Matthew Alex Mundy, who is being charged with Murder and Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime. Investigation continues and more charges are pending.

Update: The Laurens County Coroner's Office has identified the deceased as 27 year old Kevin Fortner of Waterloo. -- UPDATE: Subject is in custody — On 4/10/2026, deputies responded to the 3000 area of Todd Quarter Road in reference to a shooting. 5th Graders Complete DARE

Arrest Made In Tanglewood Death Investigation
On March 7, 2026, at approximately 5:30AM, deputies responded to Tanglewood Way in Gray Court in reference to a gunshot victim. Upon arrival, deputies located an individual in the roadway. The victim did succumb to his injuries. The SLED Child Fatality Task Force responded in addition to LCSO Investigators and the Laurens County Coroner’s Office. Due to the sensitive nature and to maintain the integrity of this case, we will not be releasing further information at this time.


Citizens Academy Kicks Off
